Hey everyone! I'm currently using a 9700k running at 4.8GHz and a slightly overclocked RTX 3080, but I'm considering an upgrade to my RAM. At the moment, I've got 16GB of DDR4 RAM at 2400MHz, and I mostly play visually demanding games like Horizon Forbidden West. Occasionally, I upscale old videos using AI tools from Topaz. I'm thinking of getting a 2x16GB kit of 3200MHz HyperX Predator DDR4 RAM. I believe that for gaming and day-to-day use, the 32GB at 3200MHz will result in a smoother experience. I don't typically run intensive multitasking while gaming, and my games don't push me to 32GB of RAM usage. My plan is to keep the extra 16GB as a backup and only use it when I need to upscale videos since the AI models require a lot of RAM. Do you think this plan makes sense? Is the difference between 3200MHz and 2400MHz noticeable in real-world scenarios? Would I feel better performance?

If you find yourself needing more than 32GB of RAM, the speed drop won't matter much to you. But if 32GB is enough for your needs, you should definitely stick with the faster RAM! Plus, since you have both kits, testing them out to see which works better for you is a solid option. You're not locked into just one configuration, so try it out!

Thanks, that's what I was thinking. If there’s a compatibility issue, it would just fail to boot while testing, right? No permanent damage or anything?
