Connecting Two Dell Monitors to an HP Laptop: How Do I Do It?

I'm trying to hook up two Dell p2425h monitors to my HP Elitebook 830, which has an HDMI output. I've attempted using the DisplayPort connections between the monitors, but they aren't showing up on my laptop. I'm running the latest version of Windows. Does anyone have a step-by-step guide or tips for making this work?

It seems like you might be getting confused with your monitor's capabilities. The Dell P2425H is a hub-style monitor, which means you actually don't need a docking station. You should connect a USB-C cable from the monitor to your laptop; this will power your laptop and enable all the ports on the monitor. After that, use a DisplayPort cable to connect the second monitor. Just make sure you're using the DisplayPort out from the P2425H to the regular DisplayPort on your second monitor, which may be blocked by a rubber plug.

Yep, exactly! Don't forget to check that you have the right cables; they should come with the monitor.

Just a heads up, if you're having trouble with the daisy chaining, confirm that the DPort out port on the P2425H is visible and not blocked. You'll also want to ensure everything is securely connected. Sometimes a loose connection can cause detection issues.

Good point! Those plugs can be tricky. Also, double-check the input settings on both monitors to make sure they are set correctly.
