Considering a CPU Upgrade: Need Advice on Options and Compatibility

Hey everyone! I'm looking to upgrade my CPU for a bit more power with my current setup. Right now, I've got an Asus Prime H610 motherboard paired with an i5 12400F, a 3060 Ti, and 32GB of DDR4 RAM. While I've been happy with my build so far, it does slow down occasionally, and I'm hoping to improve performance for both gaming and graphic/motion design work. I'm torn between upgrading to an i5 14600KF or jumping to an i7 14700KF. The price gap is noticeable in my country, but I'm willing to spend if it makes a big difference. My aim is to enhance my gaming experience, especially hitting higher FPS at 1080p, even though I don't have any major issues now. I've heard about the overheating concerns with the 14th gen CPUs, mostly due to Unreal Engine 5. I'm also not sure if my motherboard allows for overclocking, but would that be a factor in preventing overheating? Is it worth shelling out more for the i7? Any guidance or tips to avoid potential issues would be appreciated! Thanks!

Your current setup should handle 1080p gaming just fine. What FPS are you aiming for? With what you've got, 60 FPS is easily achievable. But keep in mind, you can't really put an i5 14600KF or an i7 14700KF on that H610 motherboard. It’s low-end and doesn't have the thermal design to support those CPUs properly, which could lead to throttling. If your target is solid 60 FPS, I wouldn’t worry too much about touching anything right now.

I'm trying to hit consistent 120 or 144 FPS in competitive games like Marvel Rivals or COD. I know they can be tricky in terms of optimization, but I want a stress-free experience. Thanks for your input—I'll definitely look into what you mentioned!
