I recently transported my high-end PC about 43 km by car and am worried that leaving out the original polystyrene inserts may have allowed road vibrations to damage something. The system has a Ryzen 7 9800X3D, a large Assassin Vision IV tower cooler, an ASUS TUF X870-Plus WiFi motherboard, 32 GB of DDR5 memory, an ASUS TUF RTX 4080 Super, a 1000W power supply, and a Lian Li Lancool 217 case. The build is worth roughly €4,000, so I wanted to be careful.
I used the original cardboard box but forgot the foam supports. I removed the graphics card, laid the case on its side with the motherboard facing downward, and placed the box on a folded rear seatback in my car. I drove carefully and avoided potholes and hard impacts, although there was some normal road vibration.
The computer is working normally after the move, with normal performance and temperatures. Could the vibration still have loosened or damaged the tower cooler, motherboard, or another component? Was removing the GPU enough, or should I also have removed the CPU cooler?

You probably have nothing to worry about. Since the PC is working normally and temperatures look good, there is no obvious sign of damage. You handled the riskiest part correctly by removing the heavy graphics card, which can flex the PCIe slot during bumps. You can briefly check that the cooler and other screws are still secure, but there is no reason to assume something failed.
If you want extra peace of mind, run a CPU and GPU stress test and monitor temperatures, fan behavior, and system stability. If those remain normal, the move almost certainly did not cause any meaningful damage. The main things to inspect are the cooler mounting screws, motherboard, and PCIe slot, but normal road vibration alone is unlikely to loosen them.
A large tower cooler is generally mounted firmly enough to handle a careful car trip. People have transported complete desktop systems to LAN events for years, often over much longer distances, without problems. The original foam would have provided extra protection, but a stable case placed on its side and driven carefully is usually adequate.
