Could a battery replacement erase my phone’s data?

My phone works normally in every other way, but the battery no longer holds a charge well. I'm considering having the battery replaced and want to know whether the repair process normally wipes the phone or puts my photos, apps, and other data at risk. I already keep my important data backed up, but I'd like to understand what to expect.

There’s always some risk when hardware is being repaired, even if data loss isn’t an expected part of the procedure. Keep both a cloud backup and, if possible, a computer backup so you’re covered before the appointment.

The phone should generally come back with its data intact after a routine battery swap. Still, backing up beforehand is the safest move because data can be lost from unexpected hardware failure or accidental damage, not just from the battery repair itself.
