My Dell Inspiron 3502 running Windows 11 randomly shuts off while I'm working, causing me to lose unsaved work. It also becomes very hot when plugged in, and the system slows down or freezes. I already formatted the laptop, but that didn't solve the problem. What should I check or repair?

Install all available Dell chipset, BIOS, firmware, and driver updates using Dell’s official support tools. Incorrect or outdated power-management drivers can contribute to slowdowns and instability. Also check Windows Event Viewer for critical errors around the time of the shutdowns. If the battery, charger, or charging circuit is failing, continued overheating while charging should be inspected professionally rather than ignored.
Start by checking for dust blocking the vents and make sure the laptop is sitting on a hard, flat surface. If the fan is clogged or the thermal paste has dried out, the CPU may overheat and shut the system down for protection. The laptop may need internal cleaning and fresh thermal paste from a qualified technician. Until it’s fixed, save your work frequently and keep current backups.
