Did I make the right move buying RAM now before prices skyrocket?

I'm planning to build an AM5 system in 2026, but with the current surge in RAM prices—a whopping 150% increase projected to rise even further—I've decided to speed up my timeline. I recently purchased a Corsair 2x32GB 6000Mhz CL30 RAM kit for $300 (260€ including tax). I've noticed this kit is now priced around $530 elsewhere, and Corsair's website lists it for $800. Given these rising prices, I'm curious if buying the RAM now was a smart choice. I also grabbed an ASUS Prime 5070Ti for $865 (750€) to use in my current build, and plan to get a B850 motherboard and a 9800X3D down the line. In light of past GPU and RAM shortages during the BTC and ETH bubbles, I'm worried that the current situation could get worse in the next two years.

I think prices will likely keep climbing for a bit, but RAM production can ramp up relatively fast, so I wouldn't be surprised if they drop significantly in the next year. If you can hold off, you might find your kit for less later on, but honestly, getting it now seems reasonable since you’re looking to build soon. GPU prices may also rise alongside RAM shortages, so it could be wise to secure what you need sooner rather than later.

I just picked up a Corsair DDR5 32GB 5200MHz CL36 for 205€ from a local shop in Malta. The prices here are pretty wild compared to Amazon. Your purchase sounds like it was a good call, especially with the current trends. Just keep an eye out!

Malta is amazing! I’ve been there a couple of times. But yeah, it looks like prices might continue this upward trend.
