I'm getting overwhelmed with scam emails and calls, and I'm considering using data removal services like Aura or Incogni to help reduce them. Do these companies actually work, or are they just a waste of money?

These data removal services do send out opt-out requests to data broker sites, which can help reduce spam over time. However, some sites might just add your info back later. So really, it’s more about continuous monitoring instead of a one-time fix.

Honestly, I’m not sure how much these services help with scam calls. I mean, it seems like they may not make a huge difference. But, on a positive note, carriers are starting to label spam calls, which at least makes filtering a bit easier. Still, I get bombarded with the same spam callers using different names – it’s frustrating!

Same here! I keep blocking numbers, but they just change them and call back with the same scripts. It’s like they have a never-ending supply of new numbers!

The effectiveness of these services isn't straightforward. It's crucial to understand what they can and can’t do. For example, there's no solid evidence that using these services significantly cuts down on scam or spam communications. Part of the problem is that the data can easily resurface if the involved parties don't take proper measures. That's why these services often operate on a subscription model.

Google has a built-in feature that can help remove your info from search results. They send you updates on what they've done, so there's some level of monitoring happening there.
