I recently upgraded my setup from a Ryzen 7 8700F on an MSI B840 motherboard, which I bought a few months ago. Everything boots up fine to my desktop, but I haven't had the chance to test any games yet. Should I be concerned about needing a BIOS update?

Yes, it’s usually a good idea to check for BIOS updates. They often improve system stability and fix security vulnerabilities, especially if you’re using an older version.
I don't think I'm running an old BIOS, though. I just got the PC and the 7800X3D came out a while back.
