Do I need new cables when upgrading from a 4070 Super to a 5080 GPU?

Hey everyone! I'm thinking about upgrading from my 4070 Super to a 5080 series GPU and I need some advice. Specifically, I'm curious about the cables—are they the same type? Can I use the existing cables I have for my 4070 Super, or do I need to buy an entirely new set? I've only ever swapped out GPUs of the same series before, so I've never dealt with any cable differences.

First, you should check if your 4070 Super uses the 12VHPWR connector. This is the newer standard for higher-end GPUs. If it does, then you'll be fine, since the 5080 will also use the same connector. Otherwise, you might need to upgrade your cables. Also, make sure your power supply unit (PSU) has enough wattage to support the new GPU! That's really important.

As for checking the PSU, make sure it meets the recommended wattage for the 5080 series. If your current setup works fine with the 4070 Super, it might just be enough, but it’s best to double-check the specs to be safe.
