Hey everyone! I have a B450 Tomahawk Max motherboard and I'm looking to update my BIOS to get the latest TPM improvements. However, when downloading the BIOS, it keeps mentioning that I need to activate BitLocker and save the recovery codes. I'm a bit anxious since I've never used BitLocker before and I'm new to using a PC. Is it essential to do this, or can I proceed with the BIOS update without activating BitLocker? Thanks in advance for your help!

I updated my ASUS motherboard BIOS without activating BitLocker, and everything went smoothly. You should be fine if you're not using BitLocker, but just double-check before you proceed.

The warning about BitLocker is mainly for folks who already have it turned on. If you haven't enabled it, there's no need to worry. Just make sure it’s actually off. You can go ahead with the update without activating it.

You only need to activate BitLocker if you have it already set up. Since you haven’t used it before, you can safely update your BIOS without worrying about recovery keys. It's just a caution for users who are already using BitLocker.

If you’ve never turned on BitLocker, you're good to go for the BIOS flash. The warning is for people who already use it; you won’t have any keys to save since BitLocker isn't activated for you.
