I'm planning to grab a 5070 soon because I'm excited to get my hands on Borderlands 4, which comes bundled with it at Microcenter. I'm on a bit of a budget, so this seems like a good choice for me. I wanted to know if it's necessary to use Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) when switching from my current 3070 Ti to the new 5070, or can I just install the new card and update the drivers without any issues?

It's better to use DDU, since it's a safe bet. It might work fine without it too, but DDU ensures everything's clean before you install the new drivers.
I recently switched from a 3070 to a 5070 and just used the Nvidia app to do a clean install. No problems at all! How's the 5070 been for you so far?
Honestly, most people will never need DDU just for switching cards. You should be able to just pop in the new one and go without extra hassle.
Going from Nvidia to Nvidia means DDU isn’t mandatory. But if you want to be thorough, it won’t cause any issues to use it.
You really don't need to use DDU. Switching between Nvidia cards like this usually doesn't cause problems. But if you have any doubts, using DDU won’t hurt.
