Do I really need a UPS for my gaming PC and which model should I choose?

I've been hearing a lot about Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS) and how they can protect my PC from damage during outages while allowing me to save my work. I'm mainly using my PC for gaming, so I'm thinking I would only need enough power for about 15 minutes. My current setup includes a 7800x3d CPU and a 9070xt GPU, with a total estimated wattage around 650W and a 1000W power supply. Can anyone recommend a suitable UPS for my needs?

For many users, a solid surge protector is usually sufficient to keep your PC safe from power issues, so a UPS might not be strictly necessary unless you're in an area prone to outages.

Thanks for the info, that does help!

The biggest advantage of a UPS is that it can keep your PC running during quick power blips, preventing a shutdown while you're in the middle of a game. It's definitely worth considering!

If your electrical system is maintained well, you might manage fine without a UPS. Still, I'd recommend one for protecting all your electronics. Some utilities might even offer a household surge protector installation for free, so it’s worth checking.

Is it really that uncommon to have stable electricity in the US?
