Do I really need an antivirus for Windows 10?

I just reinstalled Windows 10 on my laptop and a friend told me that I don't need an antivirus because Windows Security has cloud-based technology to protect against viruses. I'm not very tech-savvy, so I don't really understand why that matters. Is it true that I can get away without having an antivirus on Windows 10? Just so you know, I can't upgrade to Windows 11 because my laptop is older and doesn't meet the system requirements. I used to have Kaspersky Internet Security before.

Yes, you need some form of antivirus after October 14, especially if you'll be using your computer regularly. This date marks the end of mainstream support for Windows 10, so having protection is important to keep your device secure.

Does that mean I should just switch to Windows 11?
