I just bought a wireless mouse from ASDA tech (Model No: ATA2517CO), and while it seems to work well, I can't find any off switch. Is it normal for a mouse like this not to have one? I'm also concerned about battery drain when I'm not using it. Do I really need to take out the batteries each time I put it away? Am I missing something here?

Your mouse likely has a sleep timer that's set to activate after a few minutes. It uses 2 AA batteries, and using quality batteries like Energizer Ultimate Lithium can extend usage to several months.
Most wireless mice don't have a physical off switch; they usually go into a sleep mode after several minutes of inactivity. This helps save battery life without needing an off switch.
Many wireless mice automatically enter sleep mode to save power. If it doesn’t have a rechargeable battery, consider using rechargeable AA batteries for convenience.
Check the bottom of the mouse for a power switch; inexpensive models may not have one. They typically go to sleep after a period, but that can still lead to battery drain over time.
