I'm considering using MSI Afterburner primarily for performance monitoring and possibly undervolting. However, I'm concerned about any software that makes permanent changes to settings without a way to revert them. I've heard that MSI Afterburner only applies its modifications while the software is active and that there is an option to reset to default settings. Is this correct, or does it make any permanent adjustments that won't reset even if I close the software or uninstall it?

The changes from MSI Afterburner only take effect when the program is running. If you close it, everything reverts back to default settings, so you don’t have to worry about permanent modifications.
Afterburner only applies any undervolt, overclock, or fan profile settings if you specifically load a saved profile while the app is running. Once you close it, it resets everything to default. If you want, you can always reset back to defaults easily.
