I'm building my first PC after previously using a prebuilt system. I'll mainly use it for programming, gaming, and schoolwork, and I'd appreciate advice on compatibility, component choices, and ways to lower the cost without sacrificing too much performance. My current parts list is:

The total comes to roughly $2,600. Are any of these parts excessive, and are there cheaper substitutes that would still provide a strong gaming and productivity experience?

The biggest opportunity may be the memory and motherboard. DDR5-6000 CL28 is commonly chosen for AMD systems, while this Intel platform may be able to run considerably faster memory if the motherboard and memory controller cooperate. You could also consider a cheaper Z890 board, such as a model in the roughly $190 range, without losing the features most people need. The memory kit and 2TB SSD prices also look unusually high, so checking other retailers could save a lot.
If you have access to a local computer retailer, bundle discounts can make this processor and a compatible motherboard and memory much cheaper. Since those offers are often limited to in-store purchases, they may not be useful if there isn’t a nearby location. Online, I’d focus on finding a cheaper 32GB memory kit, a less expensive 2TB NVMe drive, and a motherboard with fewer premium features. The 1000W power supply is also more capacity than this system strictly needs, though keeping it is reasonable if you want upgrade headroom.
The system should work, but it’s more expensive than it needs to be for a first gaming PC. A build using the RX 9070 XT can often come in below $2,000, so I’d take another look at the memory, SSD, motherboard, and overall part pricing before committing.
