€2,200 Spanish PC build for 1440p gaming and web development — final compatibility check

I'm planning a new tower in Spain with a budget of about €2,200 including VAT. My previous system failed after several years with poor maintenance, a restrictive glass-front case, and a low-end power supply, so this time I'm prioritizing airflow, component quality, reliability, and future upgrades.

The main uses will be 1440p gaming at high or ultra settings, web design and development, heavy multitasking with many applications and browser tabs, and cloud-based AI tools. I do not plan to run large AI models locally, and I am not interested in manual overclocking or RGB.

The proposed parts are:
- Ryzen 7 9800X3D
- Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 SE
- MSI MAG B850 Tomahawk WiFi
- Sapphire Pulse Radeon RX 9070 XT 16GB
- 32GB (2x16GB) DDR5-6000 CL30 with AMD EXPO
- Lian Li Lancool 216
- Corsair RM850x 850W ATX 3.1
- Existing WD Black SN770 1TB NVMe as the temporary boot and data drive
- No extra case fans initially, since the case includes two 160mm front fans and one 140mm rear fan

The estimated cost is €2,150–€2,200. I plan to add a new 2TB SSD later. The existing SN770 must not be formatted during assembly, although I will back up important files and save the BitLocker recovery key first.

I'd like feedback on whether the build is balanced, whether the 9800X3D is preferable to a 9850X3D costing roughly €20–30 more, and whether the RX 9070 XT is the better value than an RTX 5070 Ti that costs around €500 more in Spain. I'd also appreciate advice about the motherboard, whether 32GB is enough while DDR5 prices are high, CPU cooling, PSU and case airflow, possible compatibility concerns, and whether temporarily reusing the SN770 as the boot drive is sensible.

The MSI Tomahawk is a sensible, quality motherboard for this build. You could spend more, but a pricier board would not meaningfully improve gaming performance unless you specifically need extra connectivity or expansion features.

With DDR5 prices so high, 32GB is reasonable to start with, especially since the kit is dual-channel DDR5-6000 CL30. Move to 64GB if your development tools, virtual machines, or multitasking regularly consume most of the available memory. I would avoid weakening the GPU just to reach 64GB immediately unless the extra RAM directly supports paid work or a known workload.

The parts are generally well matched for 1440p gaming and multitasking. The 9800X3D is already an excellent gaming CPU, and the slightly faster 9850X3D is unlikely to make a major difference at 1440p because the GPU will often be the limiting factor. Its benefit over the 9800X3D is usually modest, so the cheaper chip is the more sensible value unless the price difference is genuinely tiny.

The Phantom Spirit should be adequate for the 9800X3D, particularly with the Lancool 216’s strong airflow. A hotter, higher-clocked CPU could make a larger cooler or more aggressive fan curve worthwhile. The RX 9070 XT is also the obvious value choice if CUDA, DLSS, or other Nvidia-specific features are not important to you; paying roughly €500 extra for the RTX 5070 Ti would be difficult to justify for this use case.

The case fans included with the Lancool 216 should be enough initially, and the RM850x provides plenty of capacity with a strong quality margin for this system. Reusing the SN770 temporarily is fine as long as the drive is healthy and your files are backed up. Before changing hardware, make sure you have the BitLocker recovery key and expect Windows may need activation or driver cleanup after the motherboard change.

After assembly, update the motherboard firmware if needed, enable EXPO, check CPU and GPU temperatures, and verify that the system is stable before adding more parts. A second SSD later would also let you separate the operating system and applications from larger project files and games.
