I used it alongside my newer phone, but I can't remember the six-digit screen PIN. The phone contains important photos and memories, so I'm hoping to regain access without wiping the device. Are there any safe, legitimate options for recovering the data?

A reputable repair shop may be able to inspect the phone and check for legitimate backup or account-recovery options, but be skeptical of claims that they can bypass the PIN without data loss. Avoid guessing lots of PINs or using hacking tools, since repeated attempts can trigger delays or additional security protections. If the photos are not backed up, a specialist data-recovery service is safer than trying random software, though success is not guaranteed.
First check whether your photos were automatically backed up to Google Photos. Sign in to the Google account you used on the phone from another device and look through the photo library. Other services, such as Samsung’s cloud tools or Google Drive, may also have backups.
Be very careful with factory-reset instructions or paid unlocking software. Modern Android phones encrypt their data, and a reset normally erases the files. Factory Reset Protection helps prevent unauthorized use after a reset, but it usually does not recover the existing photos. An authorized Samsung service center can confirm the available options, although they may also tell you that resetting is the only supported solution.
I contacted Samsung repair, and they said a factory reset is the only option. I may still ask a reputable local repair shop for a second opinion, but I don’t want anyone experimenting with the phone and making recovery less likely.
