Frustrated with Windows Server 2022 Update Errors – Any Solutions?

I'm feeling really stressed trying to update my Windows Server 2022 VM that I set up back in November. I was able to apply all updates back then without any trouble, but when the December updates came around, I hit a wall. I tried updating manually and even through Action1, but I keep getting the same error code, "0x800f081f." I've looked online and found that this is a pretty general error, and I did run both DISM and SFC to fix potential issues, but nothing has changed. Now, it's January, and the new updates are here, but I'm facing the same problem again. The updates start installing and get to 20%, then fail with the same error. All my other Server 2022 hosts are receiving updates just fine, so it feels like this particular machine is just a nightmare. Some suggestions online mention doing an in-place upgrade with the ISO, but I haven't resorted to that yet. I'd really appreciate any insights or solutions you all might have!

There's a pretty detailed article that might help you with your update problems. It's originally about fixing Windows Server 2019, but it usually applies to other versions too. Plus, don't hesitate to look at the CBS and DISM logs for any error codes—they can be super helpful in troubleshooting.

Have you tried installing the updates through the Microsoft Update Catalog instead of the usual Windows Update? Sometimes that can help if there are issues with the automated process. Also, don't forget to check if your C drive has enough free space—aim for at least 10-15GB available just to be safe.

Honestly, if you’re spending this much time on a server that’s causing you this much hassle, I say back up your data and just spin up a new one if it’s not critical. I've learned the hard way that sometimes it's just better to replace the troublesome systems. Servers are like cattle; you want ones that are easy to replace, not pets that take all your time and energy to fix.
