I'm trying to set up a living room PC with leftover parts, but I'm hitting a wall with my NVIDIA driver installation. Here's my setup:
- Windows 10
- i5 7600k
- MSI H270 Gaming M3 with the latest BIOS
- 1x 8GB DDR4 2400 RAM (the second stick is dead)
- 2000GB 2.5 SSD
- EVGA 750W 80+ Gold power supply
I've tested two GPUs (a 1080ti and a 1070), and they both show up as "Microsoft display adapter" in device manager with low resolution. When I try to install any NVIDIA drivers, I get a BSOD with the error "Critical Process Died". The system works fine without a GPU or with Intel HD graphics.
I'm at my wit's end and would appreciate any tech advice before I throw in the towel. Apologies for my English; it's my second language.

Have you considered trying another operating system, like Linux? It might help you rule out any OS or driver issues. Also, try using a different PCIe slot for your GPU if you haven’t already; that could solve the problem!
It's interesting that you’re getting a "Critical Process Died" error when installing the GPU drivers. That usually points to a Windows process crashing, possibly DirectX. It would really help to get those dump files from you as the bot suggested; we can diagnose better with them!
I plan to check for dump files first thing tomorrow.
First off, let’s grab the dump files for some proper BSOD analysis. If you can boot into Windows or Safe Mode, check the C:WindowsMinidump folder for crash logs. If you find any, zip them up and share them on a file-hosting site like catbox.moe or mediafire.com. If you have only one dump file, no worries; just make sure to follow the guide to configure Windows for Small Memory Dumps to get more files next time.
Here’s the link to my dump files: [https://files.catbox.moe/fnzvxl.rar](https://files.catbox.moe/fnzvxl.rar). If more crashes happen, I'll generate additional dump files!
I already tried the second slot but had the same issues.
