I just got fiber optic internet installed at my house and set up the box, modem, and router. I connected everything correctly: the box to the modem using a fiber cable, and the modem to the router with a standard LAN cable. The modem and router both have power, and the indicators show green, confirming a successful fiber connection. My provider sent me an email with a link to register the modem, which I did, and it said the activation was successful. However, I've received a username and password to set up the internet connection, but I'm not sure where to enter them. When I try to connect to Wi-Fi on my phone, it says I'm connected but without internet access. When I access the router's webpage (speedport.ip), it indicates that the internet isn't set up yet. Before, with my DSL connection, it would show if I was connected or not. I'm stumped and can't contact my provider since it's Christmas—any advice would be appreciated!

It sounds like your provider’s email should have instructions on activating your connection. If there's no direct link, try visiting their website and following the activation steps there. Best of luck, and Merry Christmas!
Your modem is showing as connected according to the provider. Maybe give it a try: open Chrome and type in msn.com to see if it loads. Might just be a temporary hiccup!
Nope, still nothing loads. It says I'm connected but really no internet. I think I'll just have to wait for my provider to get back after the holidays. Thanks for your help anyway!
From what you mentioned, it seems like your provider might use PPPoE, which requires the username and password. You can usually find setup guides on your provider's support page or your router's manual detailing how to set this up. If there’s any activation needed, logging into their site might help, but since you mentioned you followed the link for the modem, I doubt that’s the case.
I did click the link in the email and entered the modem ID; it said that it activated successfully after a few minutes. The modem’s light stayed solid green, so I’m really not sure what the issue could be. My provider is o2, but I guess the details might not be helpful.

Yeah, I checked that already and it said my modem was successfully connected.
