I recently received an email from Rackspace in January 2026 informing me that the pricing for Open Stack Cloud Files is set to double. With less than a month's notice, this sudden change is quite alarming. It's really going to impact profit margins for businesses, create stress within teams, and damage the credibility Rackspace has built over the years. I'm curious about how others are handling this situation. Are you considering moving to their new modern cloud options (which doesn't include CDN) or are you thinking about dropping Rackspace entirely?

Not surprised about Rackspace's credibility. It seems like those serious about their data tend to go with major providers like AWS, Azure, or GCP. Those looking to save cash usually go for cheaper alternatives like Wasabi or Backblaze.
This shows the risks of outsourcing services. The good news is that migrating storage options is usually straightforward if you decide to switch.
Rackspace... glad I haven't had to deal with them in years. I'm hearing around that their services have been sketchy at best.
Right? I think I still have my Geocities site hosted there!
This kind of surprise pricing increase is rough. We have to submit budget requests months in advance, and it used to be that we could at least get accurate quotes with a little padding. Now it's just wild guessing. Totally unprofessional.
LOL, right?! What a nightmare!

Exactly!
