I recently installed a Windows update on December 12, 2025, around midnight CST, and since then, my computer has been unable to boot. I attempted some troubleshooting myself but couldn't resolve the issue, so I took it to a local IT service. They informed me that I need a new hard drive and to wipe my computer. I also went to Best Buy, as it's under warranty, and they confirmed the same thing. My laptop is a 2025 ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14, and it feels way too new for this problem. The Geek Squad employee mentioned that I was actually the fifth or sixth person to come in that day with the exact same issue. Is anyone else facing this problem?

Hey! It sounds like a serious issue you’ve got there. Unfortunately, I don’t have the specific update info you’re looking for, but the drive corruption after an update isn’t unheard of. Did they happen to mention the knowledge base number for the update? That could help pinpoint if it’s a known problem. Also, make sure to double-check your backup systems if you're not already!
That’s seriously frustrating! I’d be worried too if I were in your shoes. If you're still within warranty, it's good that Best Buy is taking care of you. Just a heads-up, make sure to check for other potential update rollbacks that can sometimes fix issues related to these problematic updates.
Thanks for the tip! I’ll definitely keep that in mind as I try to get this sorted out.

I didn’t get the KB number, but I missed a chance to grab the paperwork when they offered. It might be worth asking next time! I had no idea it could affect so many people at once.
