I've been discussing with my dad the possibility of installing Ubuntu on an early 2015 MacBook Air (model A1466). He suggested that I do some research online to see what others have experienced with this process. Has anyone here done this, and can you share your insights or tips?

You’ll definitely need Wi-Fi and Bluetooth drivers along with camera drivers once you install. Other than that, it should run pretty smoothly! If a friend has done it, they might have some cool tips too!
Installing Ubuntu on the 2015 MacBook Air is totally doable! However, keep in mind that this will erase macOS, so back up your files first. Here’s a quick rundown of the steps:
1. Backup your data—Time Machine works great!
2. Disable FileVault and sign out of iCloud.
3. Download the latest Ubuntu (Ubuntu 24.04 LTS is recommended).
4. Create a bootable USB using balenaEtcher or the Terminal.
5. Boot from the USB and select 'Erase disk and install Ubuntu'.
6. After installation, you might need to install extra drivers for Wi-Fi.
7. Don’t forget to update everything afterwards!
Most features should work well after installation, just keep a macOS USB handy in case you want to switch back!
Just a heads up about balenaEtcher—there have been some privacy concerns lately. You might want to check out Rufus or Ventoy instead!

Have you or anyone else you know actually done this installation?
