I'm trying to figure out if my friend's build is similar to what others have dealt with regarding stability problems. He's been having consistent crashes with a black screen whether he's gaming or just idling, and the only way to recover is to do a hard reset using the case power button. This has been happening almost daily for the past few months, and he just reached out to me about it. Has anyone else experienced similar issues?

It sounds like classic degradation symptoms. The random crashes, especially when the system is idle, are definitely concerning. Your friend should check the event viewer for WHEA errors; if there are a lot of them, the CPU might be failing. Intel has an extended warranty for these situations, so he should reach out to them as soon as possible. Running Intel's processor diagnostic tool might help, but if it's been months of issues, it might be time to consider an RMA.
I built his rig, and since he’s not tech-savvy, he’s going to ship the entire thing back to me for troubleshooting. His event viewer is full of errors related to some PresentMon issue. I just hope I can resolve it for him without too much hassle.
