Having tons of errors after building my new gaming PC—what’s going on?

I just built a new gaming PC and it's been a nightmare ever since I started using it. I got a Ryzen 7 9700X with a 5070 GPU, and everything seemed fine when the guy who built it tested it using RDR1. However, when I tried playing, I got this weird black flickering border at the bottom of the screen, which went away when I raised the camera angle. After closing the game, my PC completely froze, forcing me to restart it manually. Then, I tried playing Doom 2016, which started smoothly but after a few minutes and changing the resolution to 2k, I got a BSOD with a memory management error. I verified the game files through Steam, and everything was okay, so I updated the GPU drivers. After that, Doom wouldn't even start—just giving me a fatal error about loading an unverified resource. Eventually, it worked again, but today, when I played Marvel Rivals, the game crashed with an Unreal Engine error, and Steam crashed too. Now I'm getting BSODs with errors like "faulty_hardware_corrupted_page." What's going on?

You should definitely check for dump files from your BSOD errors. Those contain logs that can help pinpoint the problem. If you can boot into Windows or Safe Mode, look in C:WindowsMinidump for any files. You can zip them up and share them if you're comfortable! With crash logs, the community can offer you more targeted help.

Honestly, it sounds like your Windows 10 might be part of the issue. It's nearing end of life, and as newer hardware comes out, driver support is lacking for Win10. If you can consider upgrading to Windows 11, it might fix a lot of these issues for you. Besides that, checking for driver updates regularly helps—especially for your GPU. Sometimes those aren’t automatically updated when you upgrade your OS.
