Help! Can't Boot Linux Mint After Installation on My Acer Aspire

I'm trying to install Linux Mint on my Acer Aspire laptop for the first time, and I'm running into some issues. I followed a tutorial by SomeOrdinaryGamers to create a bootable USB and went through the installation process, erasing Windows in the process. After the installation completed, I clicked the 'Restart Now' button. When the Mint logo appeared, it instructed me to remove the USB and press enter, but pressing enter didn't work. I ended up shutting down my laptop, and now when I turn it on, I just get a 'No Bootable Device' message. I've made sure that the Boot Mode is set to UEFI (Legacy doesn't work for me), and Secure Boot is disabled. The Boot Priority Order is set to HDD, which it recognizes. Has anyone run into this problem?

Maybe just give the installation another shot? Sometimes a redo can clear things up. Just make sure to follow all the steps carefully this time.

I suggest using a boot-repair ISO. It can often fix these kinds of boot issues. And since youโ€™re on UEFI, make sure your disk is set up with a GPT partition table.

I faced a similar issue with my old Acer laptop. It's a common problem with the default BIOS settings, but I found a helpful YouTube video that guided me through the fix. After following the steps, my boot problems were solved immediately! You should give it a try! Hereโ€™s the link to the video: https://youtu.be/AF1wSPFAq_A?si=BUc5X_gQKgOt8kLI

HelpMeFixThis99: Wow, thanks so much! I watched the first few minutes, and it worked perfectly for me!

In case you do not have this option in the bios menu, you can follow these steps from a live or recovery terminal session: sudo -i lsblk -o PATH,PARTTYPENAME # find the EFI system partition, in my case /dev/sda1 mount /dev/sda1 /mnt cd /mnt/EFI cp -pR ubuntu Linux cd Linux cp shimx64.efi BOOTX64.EFI reboot
