Hey everyone! I've got a relatively new Lenovo IdeaPad from March, and I encountered a major issue today. My laptop's battery died (it happens sometimes), but when I plugged it back in, I was prompted for a BitLocker recovery key. I checked on both devices connected to my Microsoft account, but the first one didn't show any keys for my device (it's linked to my university email). The second one (my personal email) returned an error code: TraceID: k9txsEbnkUypimAW.8.106. I've searched everywhere for this key and can't seem to find it. I really need this laptop for school since I have assignments due soon! When I click on "contact us," it just redirects me to the Q&A page, and I can't reach out to anyone directly for help. I'm feeling pretty stuck here!

Without the key, you're pretty much locked out of your files. Microsoft can’t really assist in this specific case either. If your laptop was pre-registered, that could be the issue. Your best bet might be to reinstall Windows via a USB stick. That should get you back in action, but be aware that you'll lose any files that were on that drive!
It sounds frustrating! When you see the prompt for the recovery key, it usually tells you where to find it—check your Microsoft account again. Sometimes these things can be tricky, and your university’s IT department might have a copy of your key if it was set up that way. BitLocker can't be activated without saving the key somewhere, whether that's on the Microsoft account, a USB drive, or printed out. I hope that helps!
I’ve checked my account too, but it says ‘no BitLocker keys were found for this device.’ It’s so weird, because it was there before and now it's missing!

That sounds scary! How do I go about reinstalling Windows with a USB?
