I've been trying to open .txt files on my Windows 11 machine, but I keep getting a file system error (-2143322111). I've run the sfc and DISM commands through the command prompt, and both say there are no issues with my system. I'm starting to think it might be a faulty Windows update. Interestingly, there was a Windows Defender update pending, but applying that didn't resolve anything. Has anyone else encountered this issue?

Have you tried opening your .txt files directly with Notepad? Just load Notepad, go to File -> Open, and find your .txt file to open it that way. Also, check your file associations to make sure .txt files are set to open with Notepad or another text editor.
I'm facing the same problem today and I'm completely stumped. If anyone finds a solid fix, please share!
I ran into the same issue earlier. I uninstalled a third-party text editor I had installed, and when I went to open the .txt file, it prompted me to install a new version of Notepad. After doing that, everything's back to normal now!
I can't open my .txt files either! It’s so frustrating. Would love to hear if anyone finds a solution.
