I'm trying to decide between two GPUs: the 3060 with 12GB of VRAM and ray tracing abilities but slightly lower performance, or the 5700XT which has better performance but only 8GB of VRAM and no ray tracing. I'm looking to buy used from reputable sellers and my budget is a maximum of $175. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I'd skip both and save up for something better. They aren't ideal for future gaming. If you can find an RX 6700XT within your budget, that might be a better deal for performance.
The 3060 might not be a powerhouse for ray tracing, but it has DirectX 12 Ultimate support, which is crucial for the latest games. The 5700XT won't support that, so keep that in mind when making your choice!
I just got a 3060 for around $180, and it's been a solid upgrade from my old card. It's pretty efficient too! Definitely consider it if you’re looking for something that handles heavy-duty tasks well.
It really comes down to what games you want to play. For something like CoD or Minecraft at high graphics, the 3060 will likely serve you better in the long run thanks to its features.
Yeah, I'd want to play those games smoothly too. Good reminder to think about the specific titles!
Honestly, 8GB VRAM is still decent for 1080p gaming, but the 12GB on the 3060 makes it a safer choice for future-proofing. If longevity is a concern, go with the 3060.
True, I've heard some games require that support, and the 5700XT is really showing its age in that regard.
