I just got my hands on a new Asus TUF Gaming B550M-Plus motherboard, which I've heard great things about. However, I'm having trouble getting it to turn on at all. After transferring my Ryzen 4600G processor, which I had trouble detaching from its cooler due to excess thermal paste, everything seemed fine with the pins when I installed it into the new motherboard. Despite my efforts—booting with one RAM stick, checking all cables, and making sure everything was connected correctly—there's absolutely no response when I press the power button. Shouldn't the fans at least start up? I'm really puzzled here and wondering if it could be an issue with the processor or something else altogether.

First, make sure that your CPU cooler is properly installed and plugged into the CPU fan header. Also, double-check that both power cables are connected to the motherboard and that the PSU switch is turned on. Since it’s a new board, the BIOS should already be updated, but it doesn’t hurt to check the version on the barcode sticker next to the RAM slots—if it’s higher than 2423, you’re good to go. Lastly, confirm that your monitor is connected correctly and powered on. If nothing is turning on at all, there might be more serious issues at play.
Before you assume it's a hardware issue, can you confirm whether the power button is functioning? Sometimes it seems like the motherboard is dead, but it’s actually the button that's faulty. If you can, try shorting the power pins on the motherboard to see if that helps.
Hey, I’ve got the same motherboard and faced a similar issue. My RGB lights on the board lit up, but I still couldn’t get it to boot. Did your board show any lights? Also, if you have access to another PSU or parts, try swapping them out to rule those out as potential culprits.
