Help! My Dell Inspiron 15 Audio Driver is Acting Up and I Can’t Reset It

I'm having a really frustrating issue with my Dell Inspiron 15 3520. The audio drivers completely stopped working, and I can't seem to fix it. Just to clarify, I know it's not a hardware issue, and I've double-checked that it's not being blocked by the Windows firewall (I even disabled it and uninstalled ReasonLabs). I've updated all the drivers and have spent over 6 hours on the phone with Dell's tech support, with four different representatives trying to help me.

Initially, both the audio and microphone were malfunctioning. I tried reinstalling the Cirrus audio driver, but the audio quality was terrible, and the microphone still didn't work. After some tinkering, I managed to get the audio back, but the microphone remains non-functional.

Tech support even accessed my system remotely to try and fix it, but they couldn't get the audio or microphone working. Their last suggestion was to factory reset my PC through the BIOS, but when I attempted that, it said it couldn't connect to the internet, so the reset failed.

If anyone has any tips on how to resolve either the audio issue or the BIOS reset problem, I'd really appreciate it!

Hey! Have you tried checking the microphone settings? Here’s a quick fix you could try:

1. Right-click the Sound icon in the bottom left corner and select 'Sound.'
2. Go to the 'Recording' tab and see if your microphone appears there.
3. If it does, select it and click on 'Properties.'
4. In the 'Levels' tab, check if the speaker icon next to it has a forbidden sign. If it does, click on that to enable it. Sometimes it can be muted even if the volume isn’t at 0%.

I tried this suggestion, but there wasn’t any forbidden icon, and all the levels looked normal on my end. Still no luck. Looks like I might need to rethink this approach.
