Help! My MacBook Disappeared After a Gathering – What Can I Do?

Hey folks, I'm in a bit of a panic and really need some advice. I got my first MacBook (13" M4) less than a month ago, and losing it feels absolutely devastating, especially since I'm still a student and it was a big investment for me. Two nights ago, I had a small gathering at my apartment with five friends, including one guy I met that night. A friend of mine told me she saw my MacBook in my bedroom drawer while looking for the remote and that the new guy closed the drawer without touching the laptop. However, she left him alone in my room for about ten minutes at one point.

Now, my MacBook is gone, and Find My shows "No Location Found." I put it in Lost Mode, but it hasn't been online since. I read that this message means the device is either offline, shut down, or out of battery—but the battery was over 20%, and I never turn it off, just close the lid.

I've looked everywhere in my apartment, and it's tiny, so there's not much space for it to hide. I'm also confused because Find My never notified me it left the apartment. I've heard it could be due to someone shutting it down quickly, or maybe it should still show its last location if it was connected to Wi-Fi. There are so many mixed messages, and it's adding to my anxiety.

On top of that, I could message the new guy on Instagram, but I'm not even sure he's the one who took it. He didn't have a bag or anything with him, and I followed him to the door when he left, so I'm just stressed about the whole situation.

I can't let my parents find out because it was a gift for my 18th birthday, and my mom has been worried all night. I'm going to report it to the police tomorrow, but I'm freaking out about what to say. Is there a way to track my MacBook if it shows "No Location Found"? What else can I do?
