I've been using the same mouse for about 3-4 years, and recently, the scroll wheel has started malfunctioning. When I scroll up, it usually works, but randomly it jolts down. The same happens when I scroll down; it sometimes jumps up unexpectedly. I've tried it on different computers, and the problem continues, so I'm pretty sure it's not a software issue. Does anyone have any idea what might be wrong or if there's a way to fix it?

It sounds like the rotary encoder for the scroll wheel might be failing. You could try cleaning it with isopropyl alcohol (IPA) to see if that helps. Just apply a little bit to the area around the wheel and see if it improves the scrolling functionality.

How do I actually clean it with IPA? Any specific steps?
