Check if there are any error codes in the Device Manager under the General tab. You might also want to look at the Events tab and click on 'All Events' for any clues.
Have you tried using your mouse on a different device? Sometimes, they just stop working due to poor quality control. It's worth testing to see if it works elsewhere.
