Help! My PC Slows Down When Downloading Games, Any Ideas?

I'm having a serious issue with my PC that I think relates to my SSD. Whenever I'm downloading games, my computer becomes nearly unusable. Although my network and disk speeds are fast at first, I suddenly notice my fans slowing down, disk speed dropping, and then my network usage just plummets to zero. This can last anywhere from 10 seconds to 2 minutes before everything goes back to normal. During these slowdowns, I can't hear anything on voice chats like Discord, and even simple tasks like closing tabs become unresponsive. Initially, I thought it was a network problem, but I see similar issues when extracting files too. I've noticed the disk usage always drops before the network cuts out. I'm desperate for help; any advice would really mean a lot to me!
