Help! The Right Side of My Monitor is Super Dim

I'm facing a frustrating issue with my monitor where the right side (about a quarter of the screen) is significantly dimmer than the rest. This started after my friend built my PC, and together we tried some troubleshooting steps, like changing the resolution and refresh rate, which temporarily worked but not consistently. Sometimes I can get it back to normal just by tweaking the settings, but then it goes back to being dim again after a restart. All the components, including the monitor, are new. My friend suggested that it might be due to not having a dedicated GPU yet, just using integrated graphics, but I'm not sure why that would intermittently cause this issue. I'm hesitant to buy a new monitor without knowing if the problem will persist, especially since my friend lost the receipt. Any advice would be appreciated!

Have you tried connecting a different monitor or even a TV to see if the issue persists? It sounds like it could be a hardware problem with your monitor, like a failing backlight. Testing it with another display could help pinpoint the problem.

Yes! I used my TV via HDMI, and it worked fine without the dimness. After swapping displays and adjusting the resolution, my monitor briefly worked too, but then the issue came back when I turned the PC on again. It's so unpredictable!
