Hi there! I recently purchased a Lenovo Legion 5 laptop, but I noticed it doesn't have a DisplayPort. I bought a new monitor that supports 180Hz and plan to use it as my main display. However, when I connect my laptop to the monitor via HDMI, the refresh rate options only go up to 144Hz. Is there a way for me to reach the full 180Hz refresh rate?

The limitation comes from the HDMI version. Each device (laptop, monitor, and cable) must support the same HDMI version to achieve higher refresh rates. Unfortunately, you can't upgrade the HDMI version on your devices, so you'd need to consider getting new hardware that supports those higher specs.
You won’t be able to use that refresh rate without DisplayPort. While higher HDMI versions like HDMI 2.1 can handle more bandwidth and support higher refresh rates, your laptop and monitor have to support those versions as well. If you let us know which laptop model you have, we might be able to give you better details!
Oh, my monitor is an LG 27GS60QC.
Unfortunately, there's no way to get 180Hz without a DisplayPort. Even if you use an HDMI to DisplayPort adapter, it won't work since your laptop needs an actual DisplayPort output. So, posting exactly what model of your laptop and monitor is crucial for more tailored advice.
Thanks for the info!
Got it, thanks for clarifying!
