How can I charge my Logitech A20 X over USB without switching out of Lightspeed wireless mode?

I recently bought a Logitech A20 X headset and normally connect it through the Lightspeed wireless dongle. The headset also supports USB and Bluetooth, but I want to use Lightspeed exclusively. When I plug the headset into my computer with USB, Windows detects separate USB audio input and output devices, which causes apps like Discord and OBS to select or switch to the wrong headset. Disabling those USB audio devices does not help—the headset still tries to use USB, fails, and leaves wireless mode in an error state until I unplug the cable or re-enable the devices. Is there a way to let the computer charge the headset while keeping the audio connection wireless? Could I configure the USB port or drivers to provide power only?

If you cannot avoid the USB audio device, set the Lightspeed headset as the default input and output in Windows and in each application. You can also manually choose the Lightspeed device in Discord and OBS, though that only works around the problem rather than preventing the USB device from appearing.

The simplest fix is a charge-only USB cable. Those cables only connect the power wires, so the headset can charge but the computer never detects it as a USB audio device. Search for a “USB charge-only” or “data blocker” cable; the headset only needs a small amount of power, so a normal charging cable should be sufficient.

That sounds promising. The headset’s documentation says it only needs about 2.5 W to charge, so a basic charge-only cable should work.

You may be able to manage the USB device through Device Manager, but disabling the audio endpoints usually does not stop the headset from detecting the USB connection itself. A cable with the data lines physically disconnected is more reliable than changing Windows drivers.
