Hey everyone! I'm not a web developer by trade, but I've managed to build some decent front-end sites over the years. However, my website is 15 years old and is filled with a lot of unnecessary clutter in the database. I've made some mistakes along the way, and now it's a mess with old files, backups, redundant sites, and more. I really need to clean it up as it's clogging my site and taking up way too much space.
So here's my question: What's the best way to go about cleaning this up? I'm currently on a Business Plan with Bluehost,
- I'm thinking about getting a new host like Hostinger, manually recreating my website to give everything a fresh start.
- Would it be better to do this offline on my computer?
- Or can I tackle this on Bluehost without messing anything up?
I'm mainly concerned about not ruining my site because it means a lot to me. Any advice would be tremendously appreciated! Thanks!

It's good to keep domain registration, DNS, and hosting separate for more control over your site. Namecheap is great for domain registration, while Cloudflare is excellent for DNS management. 1. Make a full backup of your files and database (this is a must!).
2. Clone your site to a staging environment, either using Bluehost's staging feature or a local setup with LocalWP.
3. Clean your site in the staging area:
- Remove any unused themes or plugins.
- Delete old backups in the wp-content directory.
