How can I connect my capture card to a PC without USB-C Alt Mode?

I recently purchased a capture card and noticed it connects via a USB-C port. However, I found out that my USB-C port isn't 'Alt Mode' compatible, which is needed for it to transmit video signals. I've tried using a USB-C to USB adapter, but it doesn't seem to work at all. Is there any way around this issue? Is there a special adapter or alternative I can use to get the USB-C cable functioning properly with my current setup? I'm looking for possible hardware solutions or recommendations.

If you're only trying to capture video from devices that don't require USB-C Alt Mode, you might want to avoid that limitation altogether and just get a traditional HDMI capture card. That way, you'll have fewer issues with ports and compatibility.

Great advice! Traditional HDMI capture cards are often more reliable for general use. If you can return yours, it might save you a lot of hassle.

If your capture card connects via USB-C, it's usually designed to work over standard USB protocols, which doesn’t require Alt Mode. Make sure you’re connecting it using the right method. If it has HDMI output, use that to connect to a regular HDMI input on your PC.

Thanks! I'll try that. I was confused because I thought I had to exclusively use the USB-C cable.

It sounds like you might be misunderstanding how the capture card works. Alt Mode is mainly for sending video signals out from a device, not for capturing video. If your capture card connects through USB-C, it should still work with a standard USB port if it is designed that way. You might want to check the specs of your capture card to see its compatibility or if it requires a different type of connection for video input.

Yeah, that's right! USB-C is often misunderstood. If your card has other outputs like HDMI, try using that instead to connect to your PC. It may not require Alt Mode for capturing.
