I'm building in a fishtank-style case and want one ARGB fan at the rear, two ARGB fans on top, two ARGB fans on the bottom, and two non-ARGB fans on the side. My motherboard only has two 4-pin fan headers. The fans I'm considering are TL-C12CW and TL-S12RW. Do I need a powered, assignable fan hub, or is there a safe way to power the extra fans directly from the PSU?

A powered PWM fan hub is the cleanest solution. It connects to one motherboard fan header for speed control and draws power from SATA, letting you run several fans without overloading the motherboard header. ARGB lighting is separate from fan power, so make sure the hub also supports the correct 3-pin 5V ARGB connections if you want centralized lighting control.
Fan splitters can work if the total current stays within the motherboard header’s limit; running up to three typical fans from one header is often fine, but check the fan labels and motherboard manual first. A splitter only handles the fan motors, though—it does not automatically solve the ARGB wiring.
You can connect ARGB and non-ARGB fans to the same fan-speed header only if their motor connectors are compatible, but the non-ARGB fans will not receive lighting. Never connect a 3-pin 5V ARGB plug to a 4-pin 12V RGB header.
Avoid connecting bare fan motors straight to the PSU unless you use an appropriate SATA- or Molex-powered adapter/controller. Direct PSU power usually makes the fans run at full speed and removes motherboard speed control. A powered hub or fan controller is safer and easier to manage.

So I should look for a SATA-powered PWM and 5V ARGB hub rather than just a basic splitter?
