How Can I Disable USB Power After Shutdown While Keeping Wake-Up Functionality?

I'm trying to achieve two things with my MAG B850 Tomahawk MAX WIFI motherboard: I want my USB ports to stop providing power when the PC is shut down so I can turn off the RGB lights on my keyboard, but I still want to be able to wake my PC from sleep mode using my mouse. I found that enabling the "ErP" option in the BIOS doesn't help if the "Resume by USB" setting is active, as that keeps power flowing to all USB ports even after shutdown. I'm facing a dilemma where I either have to keep my RGB lights on after shut down or lose the ability to wake my PC with USB devices. Does anyone have a solution for this?

It sounds like you're caught between a rock and a hard place. If your USB ports are completely off after shutdown, how do you expect to wake the PC? When the PC is in sleep mode, it keeps USB power on to allow for wake functionality. You might need to sacrifice on one side of it.

Exactly! It's important to remember that sleep mode and shutdown are treated differently by the motherboard. Most boards keep USB power on for waking the PC, but turn it off after a full shutdown.

Honestly, it sounds like you'd need to either switch to non-RGB devices or find a motherboard that supports the features you're looking for. Many boards can provide power during sleep (S3) and cut it off after shutdown (S5), but it seems like yours might not support that with the current setup.

I hear you! It's frustrating because my previous motherboards handled this just fine. I’ll have to keep looking for one that meets all my needs.
