I misplaced the power cable for my KCO2M10EU air quality monitor. Support told me that the only way to get another cable is to purchase a completely new monitor, but the device appears to use a common 5 V DC power connection. Can I buy a compatible replacement cable or adapter instead? The port is shown in the linked photo. How can I determine the correct barrel-plug dimensions, polarity, and power rating before connecting anything?

Barrel connectors aren’t fully standardized, so measure the socket with digital calipers if possible. The important dimensions are the outside diameter and the inside diameter—for example, 3.5 × 1.35 mm or 5.5 × 2.1 mm. A universal DC plug kit can help identify the fit, but don’t connect random adapters just to test them.
It may use a generic 5 V DC adapter, but “5 V” alone isn’t enough to guarantee compatibility. You also need the correct barrel-plug size, polarity, and a power supply rated for at least the monitor’s required current. Check the label or manual for those specifications before buying.
Be especially careful with polarity. The symbol near the power input indicates whether the center pin is positive or negative, and reversing it can damage the monitor. Match the voltage and polarity exactly; the adapter’s current rating can be equal to or higher than the device’s requirement. A clearer photo of the label and polarity symbol would make identification easier.
Could a blurry photo make the polarity symbol look different? I’ll try to get a sharper picture of the label and connector.

I’m not sure which specifications I should search for. So I should look for a 5 V, 1 A adapter with the matching plug and polarity?
