I'm looking to grab the Windows system sounds so I can convert them into .ogg files for use on my Linux system. Does anyone know where I can find these sounds?

You can find the Windows system sounds in the C:WindowsMedia folder if you have access to a Windows machine. Just copy them from there!

Will check later, thanks!

Another good place to look is the Internet Archive. You can find many of the system sounds there. And if you need to convert them, software like Audacity should do the trick!

I'll look into it. I tried downloading a Windows 7 sound from the Archive before, but it was missing some iconic sounds like the startup chime.
