How can I fix crashes and BSODs related to nvlddmkm?

I've been experiencing frequent crashes while gaming on my PC, specifically with games like Dead by Daylight, Fortnite, Total War: Warhammer 3, Witchfire, Slime Rancher, and Hunt Showdown. Sometimes these crashes result in a Blue Screen of Death (BSOD). After investigating in the event viewer, I found this message: **The description for Event ID 153 from source nvlddmkm cannot be found.** It suggests that the issue may be linked to my graphics driver. I've tried a bunch of fixes including updating my drivers, disabling XMP, running sfc and dism commands, and even reseating my GPU, but nothing seems to help. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Good luck finding those dumps! If you’re done with DDU and the problem recurs, you might need to monitor heat levels or check for hardware issues like memory faults. It's a process, but diagnosing this kind of issue can take time.

It sounds frustrating! First, make sure you have the latest Nvidia driver installed. If the problem persists, check your Device Manager to confirm your graphics card is recognized. If it’s showing up, consider using Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) to completely remove your current driver while in Safe Mode, then reinstalling a fresh version. This can help resolve conflicts that might be causing the crashes.

Also, don't forget to check for dump files for the BSOD errors. Head over to C:WindowsMinidump and see if there are any files there. If you find some, zip them up and upload them to a file-sharing site. Getting those dump files can give more insight into what’s going wrong since they contain crash logs. If you only have one, follow a guide to configure your system to create small memory dumps for future crashes.
