How can I get an Azure API key without a credit card?

I'm trying to use an Azure-powered feature for a project, but I can't create a free account because the signup process requires credit card details, and I don't have a card. Is there any legitimate way to obtain an Azure API key without one, such as another payment method or a free account option?

Azure access generally requires an active subscription, and creating that subscription usually involves a supported payment method. An API key also depends on the specific Azure service you want to use, since each service handles authentication differently. There isnโt one universal Azure API key.

You shouldnโt use an API key belonging to someone else. It would be connected to their subscription and billing account, so they could be charged for your usage and would have to trust you with access. The account owner could also revoke the key at any time.

The best option is to check whether the particular service you need offers its own free tier, trial, student program, or a non-Azure alternative that accepts another payment method. Azure has many different services, and whether a free option exists depends on the exact resource youโre trying to use. If the project supports it, using a local model or another provider may be easier.
MellowCedar42: I need the key for an AI girlfriend simulator project. I was hoping the API would be free, but the signup process requires a credit card, so Iโll look for a compatible provider with a different payment option.

MellowCedar42: Iโm not trying to get someoneโs credit card informationโI only need access for the project. I understand now that the key would still be tied to the ownerโs billing account.
