How can I get Google Search results without AI Overviews?

I've already turned off the AI Overview setting, but AI summaries still appear at the top of most searches. Is there a reliable way to hide them and return to standard search results? If Google doesn't provide a dependable switch, which search engines, browsers, extensions, or workarounds are people using instead?

DuckDuckGo gives you better control over its AI features, and you can disable them without creating an account. Brave is another reasonable alternative, although most major search engines are adding some form of AI now.

A practical Google workaround is to use Firefox with the udm14 extension. It sends searches through Google’s standard results view instead of the AI-heavy default. You can also add a custom search engine using a URL such as https://www.google.com/search?udm=14&q=%s and set it as the default.

There doesn’t seem to be a universal off switch at the moment. The most dependable approach is switching to a search provider with AI controls, or using a browser extension or custom search URL that forces Google’s regular results page.

Adding “-ai” to the search query is often suggested, but it doesn’t reliably remove the overview. Some people report that unusual or profane wording makes it disappear, but that’s hardly a proper solution.
