My parents disabled my internet connection on the PC, but I still see that I'm connected to the WiFi. I can't access the internet, though. Is there a way to fix this without having to talk to them?

It sounds like they might have blocked your device on the modem. Most modems have parental controls that can restrict internet access. You might want to check the settings if you have access, or consider using a different method, like a USB WiFi adapter.

If you're getting an IP address starting with 169.x.x.x, it means DHCP is off. You could run 'cmd' and then 'ipconfig' to check your settings. They may have blocked your MAC address, but you can also try a new WiFi dongle to connect.

You could try changing your MAC address. Google 'how to spoof your MAC address' and it should help you bypass any restrictions they set up.

Honestly, it might be worth having a conversation with them. If there's a reason they're upset about your internet use, finding a compromise could really help your situation.
